Information for Partners
Just as a child needs parents and other mentors to grow and become healthy, so do church planters/plants. Nowhere are these relationships more important than in the early years. Effective partners come in all sizes and shapes. Whether you can partner in every way or in one particular area, you are needed! Here are some of the ways you can help to start a new church:
By mentoring a church planter: All Baptist Convention of New York church planters are required to have a mentor. Having a trained and committed mentor is crucial to the success of the plant. To help you become an effective mentor, we offer Mentor Training events on a periodic basis.
By becoming a Support Partner: The Support Partner is a/an church, individual, or organization which provides financial and/or prayer support to assist in the starting and development of a church plant. The Support Partner may be located near the plant or in another state.
By becoming a Copartner: The Copartner is a church which contributes significantly to the church planting project for a specified period of time. Two or more Copartner churches often are utilized for each project. The Copartner may be located near the church plant or in another state. These partners usually contribute support in the form of manpower (mission trips), materials, mentoring, and money.
By becoming a Primary Partner: The Primary Partner is a church that starts and nurtures a new church plant. This partner is usually located near the church plant. The primary partner becomes the legal umbrella for the new work, with the plant operating under the sponsor’s constitution. A primary partner provides support such as manpower, mentoring, materials, and money. This relationship usually continues until the new church constitutes.
